joy is an act of resistance
This is the tree outside my bedroom window.
THE TREE THAT provides shade and cover in the summertime and GLOWS WITH THE COLOR OF SUNSHINE in the fall.
the tree that shed nearly a million leaves over the last few weeks,
creating a golden blanket that covers the dirt and weeds and literal shit that are my backyard.
To draw this tree is an act of joy.
Joy that eases the daily struggle with and against all the shit -
all the sexism, racism, classism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia, fatphobia, anxiety, and heartlessness - from within and without.
Joy is an act of resistance.
Where do you find your joy?
